Finding Joy in the Present Moment

ree

There are many ways to find joy in the present moment when you realize that the only thing that exists is the present moment. When our thoughts bring us to moments that exist outside of ourselves, we are connecting to moments that either no longer exist in the current state of reality or are essentially fiction because we are creating an event that has not even happened. Typically, we have emotions that connect us to these past or future events, and therefore it is easy to believe that they are real. Our intuition will give us clues about the future or maybe about certain people or events, but our thoughts, actions, and choices keep everything in a state of flux. Everything is changing in every moment. This may feel uncomfortable because the illusion is that we have control over everything in our lives. We can accept peace and joy when we surrender to the present moment. Overthinking and worry will create stress and disease in the body because we are trying to control, and the more we try to control, the more things feel out of control.

In the moment, we can connect to the breath and find peace in stillness. We are able to listen to our intuition more effectively because we are present and not allowing external factors or influences to sway our choices. This is when we discover who we truly are: the light that is sometimes buried beneath burdens, guilt, shame, expectations, and roles that we play. When we listen to and honor our intuition, we navigate our lives from a higher perspective, and this reminds us that we are not helpless human beings but rather powerful manifesters who came here to remember who we are. We are love. We are always capable of learning lessons in each moment that life offers. Instead of seeing ourselves as victims of a low vibrational existence, remember that we are powerful beings who can create reality, especially when we connect to the divine light that is within us.

Here are some ways to connect to present moment:

Practice gratitude

Savor your food/mindful eating

Detach from your phone/technology

Check in with your body-listen to your intuition

Connect to your senses in the moment (while tasting, smelling or listening to music). How do you feel?

Pause before moving on to other things

Create art, listen to music (or create music), practice writing or journaling, go for a walk, practice yoga

Reflect on happy moments and allow the joy of those moments to bring you peace

Spend time in nature

Give/receive affection

Do nothing

Appreciate your space or environment and connect to it with all of your senses
